Free Fun Inside – Carondelet Park RecPlex

Posted on: July 13, 2010

Whether you live in the great St. Louis area or are just in town for a visit, consider taking the family to the new recreation complex in beautiful Carondelet Park on the south side of town. Built by the city and run by the YMCA, the Carondelet Park Rec Complex has fitness equipment, two gyms, an indoor track, and a large pool area. My advice would be to head over for a swim on a cold winter day to get some wiggles out. Just be sure to check out the indoor pool schedule first, and consider going when the “Splash Park and Slide” are open for optimum fun. My husband likes the 2 1/2-story waterslide, we all enjoy the lazy river, and when our cautious three-year-old is feeling brave, he has fun on the toddler play structure, complete with water slide. In fact, we joined the RecPlex primarily so we’d have a place to take our little guy and get some energy out during the winter months.

Before you visit the RecPlex, here are some important considerations:

  • Each guest may visit one time free of charge unaccompanied by a member.
  • Print out the “guest pass” on this page under the download section, and be sure to take the pass with you. I would recommend printing one per person, just to be on the safe side.
  • Everyone 15 years and older needs a photo ID, but they prefer those 13-15 years have them as well.
  • Towels are available for use at no charge.
  • Mens, Womens, and Family locker rooms are available. Bring your own lock if you so wish.
  • Be aware that the pool area, although indoors, is closed in the event of lightning.
  • This pass does not work for entrance to the outdoor pool.
  • Consider calling the RecPlex at 314-768-9622 before you go to confirm that their guest policy hasn’t changed.
