St. Louis Parks – Carondelet Park

Posted on: August 25, 2010

Whether you live in the south St. Louis city area or simply want a new park to explore, Carondelet Park is worth putting on your list. While I find that St. Louis City parks are generally not as well-kept as the County parks, they are nonetheless wonderful in their own right and worth checking out. Before you head to Carondelet Park, here are some things to consider:

  • Two large lakes, both stocked with fish (though the water is pretty gross…!)
  • Several picnic areas and shelters, including the Boathouse and Bandstand
  • Soccer, baseball and softball fields (some lighted), as well as lighted tennis courts
  • 1.65 mile path
  • Two playgrounds, with the playground off Loughborough pictured above
  • Combination of gravel/mulch and soft solid flooring in playground areas
  • Very little shade on playgrounds
  • Basic restroom facilities
  • Carondelet RecPlex located within park grounds
  • Recycling drop-off located near the RecPlex

I’m always looking for new parks to investigate with my kids, so if you have a favorite, let me know! And speaking of tipping me off…now would be a good time to start compiling a list of tips for Frugalouis. You’ll need them for our next giveaway!
